Each M.2 SSD length is tailored for different applications, balancing space, performance, and functionality. While the M.2 22110 (22mm x 110mm) SSD stands out for its advanced features and superior reliability, the M.2 22110 SSD is more than just a larger storage drive-it's a powerhouse designed to enhance performance and reliability. Here's how the extra space in M.2 22110 drives is utilized to integrate advanced controller technologies and power regulation components, ultimately leading to increased performance potential.

I agree with the perks of the length. It would be nice if 110 mm weren't cut out of the accessories ecosystem by most products capping support to 80 mm. Just look at some of these enclosures:

HyperDrive and ZikeDrive:

In each of the products, the overall dimensions of the interior ought to be able to accommodate 110 mm, but the way the M.2 and USB-C connectors are laid precludes the possibility. I can't simply dremel away the interior aluminum/plastic to make room for the extra length.

If the ICYNano MB861U31-1M2B came with a USB4 chip instead of USB 3.2, that'd make it the one and only 110-mm-compatible USB4 portable drive. 🙂 A PCB comparable to the size of what's in the ICYNano has already been proven to be possible.

You have a valid point. Most of the enterprise drives are using 110mm M.2 SSDs nowadays. However, we have noticed that some 110mm drives are not compatible with our current USB IC and that is an issue we need to solve first. Specification wise, 110mm is one of the way to make our product stood out among competitor's.
