This is great, industry is moving from m2 to e1 and have few e1 sticks where I need this.

One addition would be great, ability to disable the fan by jumper.

Thank for you the feedback! That is a good suggestion. We will relay this information to our Product Development Team.

Hello. I would buy many of these. I'm assuming they would work fine in gen4 slots correct? Also would be awesome if a x16 version came out utilizing two slots to four directly wired e1.2 drives. That would be amazing and I would imagine relevant for a while. High point released the Rocket 1749E for $1500 which has asics to utilize a single x16 for 8 drives. For you guys it would be much cheaper electrically to wire directly to the x16 to the enclosure - perhaps even wiring to 8 drives as pcie gen 6 is about to come out - so 8 pcie gen5 drives with bifurcation. For people needing a quick high performance nvme addition, that would be a pretty amazing offering that you could do very cheap compared to highpoints ASIC based solution.

My only real question is when would any of this e1.s concepts come out?

For concept products to become reality, our team has to gathered enough market information from customers and use it to convince our HQ/PM to start manufacture it. Therefore, we appreciate customer just like you and all the valuable feedback provided to us.

Also, there are a few examples that concept product does turn into our standard product line. https://global.icydock.com/products-c2-s87-i0.html

Gen 5 is usually backward compatible with older generations but the final transfer speed would be limited to the older generation.

Lastly, our CP158 would be close to what you have mentioned " a x16 version came out utilizing two slots to four directly wired e1.2 drives." BUT for we need to change it for connecting to E1.S drives instead of M.2 drives
